Currently Seeking a Senior Pastor
Duties:
Reports to: Congregational Chairperson as outline in our church constitution
Broad Function: Serve as the Chief Administrator of the congregation and in cooperation with the Congregational Chairperson, General Board, encourage orderly procedures of the life and work of the congregation in compliance with the congregation’s constitution, bylaws, policies and procedures of the congregation and general board.
Terms: 6 Month Interim or Transitional Interim Pastor
Qualifications and Responsibilities:

The Senior Pastor at Fellowship Christian Church will provide spiritual leadership to the Congregation through biblically sound preaching, discipleship, and exemplifying godly character. The Senior Pastor will demonstrate a high level of competency and excellence in the study of the scriptures, church leadership and organization, and equipping the church to be disciples.

Provide, organize and oversee church ordinances including Baptismal, Lords Supper etc.

Provide Pastoral care to congregants to include: hospital visits, sick and shut-in, calling, sending “missing you” letters or cards, situational counseling, assisting with and presiding over funeral services and weddings as may be requested by congregants.

Arrange and organize an inspiring Sunday Worship Service which includes Sunday School at 9:15am-10:15 am and worship Service at 10:30 pm

Attend established meetings such as: Board meetings(currently held every other month or
6 times a year); Elders and Diaconate meetings (currently held every other month or

6 times a year); Cooperate Prayer and Weekly Bible Study (Currently held each Wednesday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm by dial-up conference); Men’s Bible Study (every other week (on zoom).

Confer with and collaborate with the trustees to attend to the physical functioning of the church building and or property.

Delegate appropriate tasks to and directly oversee the work performance of the part-time secretarial assistant.

Spend a minimum of 20 hours per week of office hours or community engagement and involvement. Additional duties include: Oversee evangelism and mission outreach to the local community and the world. Along with the church leadership team, set a clear vision for where the church is heading. Lead people to faith in Jesus Christ. Counsel individuals or groups concerning their spiritual, emotional, or personal needs .Devise ways in which congregational membership can be expanded. Respond to requests for assistance during emergencies or crises. Guide and administers the core ministries of the church – worship, teaching, evangelism, community service, fellowship / Pastoral care, administration / leadership and conduct New Membership classes for new members.
Minimum Qualification: Prefer an ordained and licensed minister, commissioned by the Regional Board of the Disciples of Christ. Graduation or attendance at a School of Theology. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must consent to and pass a background check.

Our History
After Quindaro Christian Church, the only predominately Black Christian Church affiliated with the Christian Brotherhood was disbanded in 1983, concerned ministers, including Elders S.S. Myers, King David Cole, and George Lakes, met with Dr. David Downing, Regional Minister.
